GOVERNOR ORENGO TO RESIGN

The embattled Siaya county deputy Governor has opened up on their disagreement with Governor James Orengo. The two have been engaging in side shows for a period of forcing the ODM party leader Raila Odinga to intervene and save his Home county from plunging further.

Raila Odinga has influenced the country assembly members on the Ouster of the deputy governor after the attempts seeking a truce between the two failed to bear fruits.

The Siaya county Assembly members have already voted against the deputy governor in a vote of No confidence with the majority (38) voting against the deputy governor and only one voted to save the deputy governor.

In his good morning show interview at KBC Channel 1 tv on 30th may 2023, CPA Dr. William Odoul as opened up on what is ailing Siaya County. Dr. William says that their disagreement with Governor James Orengo is based on the idiologies and not personal issues. They Disagree on how to they want to run the county.

The deputy governor exposing the dark side of the governor says that towards the end of last year, he was shocked to notice abnormal huge withdrawals and upon summoning the Finance minister he was told that the finance minister could make the withdrawals and take to the governor all of them which can not be traced further on their usage.

At many times, the governor could do a lot of decision making assuming his deputy governor. The deputy governor said that their are other controversial decisions made by the governor who he would not like to be challenged. And that is how the wrangles begun.

“When money is transferred to imprest, junior officers are used to withdraw it. A junior officer goes to Equity Bank and withdraws 950,000 four times in a day and this happens every two, three days. This is blatant theft of public money.” He added.

Now the deputy governor is calling for the resignation of the governor alongside him to give electorate the mandate to elect fresh minds ready to manage the county free from corruption.

The deputy governor who seems scared not of the impending impeachment has dared the county assembly to go ahead with it for it doesn’t scare him. He says that he has decided to take the unpopular side not to join the governor and the executive in looting but stand with the people on the accountability of the county resources.

“This path that I’ve taken is not always travelled, particularly when you’re part of the Executive, you will always want to be part of the loot. I’ve decided to be the unpopular one and stand on the people’s side so that we provide service.” Said the deputy governor.
