William Oduol in Another Crisis After Surviving Impeachment

A group of rowdy youth on Thursday attempted to attack Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol after he returned to the county for the first time since the Senate rescued him from impeachment last month.

Mr Oduol arrived at around 3pm on Thursday and went straight to his office where he sat for a few minutes before a group of youth stormed the office to evict him, prompting his security details to call for reinforcement from the police.

This caused tension at the county government headquarters before he left under tight security of a contingent of police officers who sandwiched his convoy as he snaked through the streets of Siaya town while accompanied by a few of his supporters.

Mr Oduol then made a stopover in the town centre where he addressed members of the public while condemning the attempts to block him from accessing his office.

The Deputy Governor pleaded for a truce between himself and his boss James Orengo, stating that it is his wish that they need to sit together and resolve their differences so that they can effectively work for the people of Siaya County.

He pointed out that since the Senate had vindicated him, they need to work harmoniously to be able to deliver the nine-point manifesto that they presented to the people of Siaya County during their campaigns last year.

Mr Oduol expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his supporters for standing with him as he battled the push to impeach him from office.

The Deputy Governor however vowed to continue raising alarm whenever there will be anything that is not being done right in Governor James Orengo’s administration.
