Charity Ngilu To Be Jailed For 10 Years

The former Kitui County Governor, Hon. Charity Ngilu faces a ten year jail term following the reports that she irregularly appointing officials to the county Manifesto Implementation Unit (MIU) in 2017.

According to EACC, there was no advertisement made for this post contrary to the law requirements. This is now one of the grounds which the governor has been found guilty of the offence.

The agency has found her guilty of abuse if Office in line with the section 46 and 48 in accordance with the Anti Corruption Economic Crimes Act.

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission however directed the Officer of the Director of public prosecutions ( ODPP) to charge Ngilu alongside other three board members. This led to more investigations which established that the the former County boss was found guilty.

According to the Act, the convicts of such acts are entitled to the ten years jail term and a sh. 1 Million fine.
