Finally: Breakthrough in Kevin Kang’ethe Case

Reports indicate that Kevin Kang’ethe, a US fugitive who mysteriously fled from the heavily guarded Muthaiga Police Station, is now under the radar of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)

A report published by the Nation on Monday, Kang’ethe has been tracked to three different counties—Machakos, Nairobi, and Kiambu—since his escape. Utilizing phone signal data, DCI detectives have been able to monitor his movements.

Kang’ethe is wanted by US authorities for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, whose body was discovered at an airport. He had been evading capture for three months before being apprehended in Kenya while exiting a nightclub in Westlands.

His escape from Muthaiga Police Station has prompted widespread concern among Kenyan citizens and leaders, who have raised questions about the efficacy of police operations and security measures across the country.

In a related incident, lawyer Nge’the, who was reportedly abducted, was subsequently released after threats of mass demonstrations against the DCI from the Law Society of Kenya.

Responding to the situation, DCI boss Mohamed Amin confirmed that Kang’ethe’s arrest was related to his escape from Muthaiga Police Station, indicating ongoing efforts to apprehend the fugitive and address security lapses.
