37 Witnesses Already Lined Up In Murder Charge That Might See A Kenyan Governor Be Imprisoned

In a case that has dragged for years, an end might be finally in sight. According to Director Of Public Prosecutions, the trial of Governor Okoth Obado will start on July 5th and end at July 15th. A total of 37 witnesses will testify against the governor.

Governor Obado is being accused of murdering Rongo University student Sharon Otieno. Together with his two aides they are being charged of ending brutally life of the student and her unborn child. Before her death, Sharon was studying Diploma in Media and Journalism at Rongo University.

It has been a chaotic second term for Migori Governor Okoth Obado. Apart from the murder charge, the governor is also facing graft charges. Obado was arrested late last year with four of his children over alleged embezzlement of Sh73.5 Million.

Migori ODM branch members have also given the governor an ultimatum to quit the party and lose his gubernatorial position or otherwise be expelled. This was after Obado declared that he would be seeking the presidency in 2022 using PDP Party. Obado has also survived an impeachment motion that was initiated by ODM immediately he was arrested for graft charges.
