Only Highschool in Kenya Where Students are Paying Ksh 2000 per Term

Secondary schools will now charge a maximum of Sh2,000 per term, thanks to a partnership with the constituency development fund. Under the initiative school in Alego-Usonga constituency, spearheaded by Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi, the CDF will cover the remaining balance, reducing the annual fee burden on parents to Sh6,000 per student.

The decision, reached during a meeting between CDF officials and principals of the 47 day schools, aims to alleviate financial strain on families and ensure uninterrupted education for students. Atandi emphasized the urgency of the move to prevent students from facing disruptions due to fee-related issues.

Citing the challenges faced by students in meeting the government-recommended annual fee of Sh14,000, Atandi underscored the necessity of the program. By subsidizing education costs, the initiative seeks to boost enrollment rates and support school management.

Eric Odiang’a, principal of Mahola Mixed Secondary School, expressed gratitude on behalf of his colleagues for the initiative, noting its potential to ease financial burdens for both students and school administrators.

Odiang’a highlighted the prevalence of fee arrears in local schools and stressed the importance of timely fee payments to sustain the program’s benefits.

The program not only aims to facilitate 100% transition from primary to secondary education but also aims to enhance the overall management of day secondary schools.

Atandi urged parents and guardians to reciprocate the support by ensuring prompt payment of the reduced fees, thereby contributing to the sustainability of the initiative and the well-being of students.
