Uhuru Shows Hate to Ruto in DRC

A retired President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and his successor, Dr. William Ruto, found themselves in Kinshasa on Saturday, January 20, 2024, attending the inauguration of DRC President Félix Tshisékédi.

The symbolic gathering unfolded as both leaders shared a seating area during the ceremony, shedding light on the strained relationship that has persisted since the transfer of power.

Despite their physical proximity, the atmosphere surrounding Kenyatta and Ruto hinted at lingering tensions, evident in the frowns worn by both leaders.

The shared space, which should have symbolized a unity of purpose, instead highlighted the unresolved issues between them, months after the formal handover of presidential responsibilities.

Notably, Mohamed Tache Dida, a consultant specializing in technical and vocational education, took to social media to criticize President Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly displaying animosity towards his successor, Ruto.

Dida expressed disappointment that Kenyatta, who served as the Father of the Nation for a decade under Ruto’s tenure, did not extend a gesture of respect during their encounter in a foreign land.

Dida’s sentiments, posted on X, emphasized the need for Kenyatta to acknowledge Ruto, bow down as a sign of respect, and exchange greetings. The consultant framed the interaction as a missed opportunity for reconciliation and mutual acknowledgment, given Ruto’s role in Kenyatta’s ten-year presidency.
