Renowned William Ruto insider, Cherargei, has alleged that Uhuru Kenyatta is backing former Tanzanian president Jakaya Kikwete for the AU chairperson position.

He further claimed that Kenyatta is displeased with Raila’s potential appointment to the AU chair position. This revelation has sparked diverse reactions among Kenyans, with some staunchly supporting the claim while others vehemently oppose it.

Notably, Raila’s associate, Robert Alai, echoed similar sentiments mere hours prior, shedding light on Kenyatta’s purported efforts to thwart Raila’s chances of securing the aforementioned position.

Consequently, there is mounting pressure on former president Uhuru Kenyatta to publicly address and clarify the swirling allegations against him.

Raila Amollo Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta have shared a close political relationship, particularly following Kenyatta’s endorsement of Raila as his successor, which culminated in Raila’s defeat by William Ruto in the 2022 presidential election.
