Late-night Phone Call That Saved Kawira Mwangaza

A new revelations have surfaced, shedding light on what transpired behind closed door, in the aftermath of a contentious clash between the Meru County Assembly and Governor Kawira Mwangaza in the Senate.

Senators, preferring anonymity for political reasons, have disclosed fresh claims to the media, asserting that the governor’s destiny seemed sealed by early Wednesday evening, with senators poised to ratify the impeachment. However, a late-night call from a prominent official purportedly altered the course of events.

According to these senators, a clandestine power struggle unfolded, pitting two cabinet secretaries from the Mount Kenya region against the Council of Governors, each faction advocating for the governor’s impeachment and salvation, respectively.

Following an alleged impasse between the two cabinet secretaries and a majority of junior first-time senators, the Council of Governors purportedly gained the upper hand. It is claimed that the council offered monetary incentives ranging from 2.5 to 3 million per senator to sway their votes in favor of saving the governor.

Reportedly, the Council of Governors intended to allocate funds to each senator based on their seniority within the legislative body. Despite the financial inducements, many junior senators were said to be indecisive, refusing to commit even after being offered monetary incentives.

At this juncture, the narrative takes a twist with the purported involvement of a powerful government official in the power play. As disclosed by senators seeking anonymity, this senior government official allegedly intervened with surprise late-night phone calls, ultimately working to secure the governor’s salvation.

This was allegedly after a team of women leaders ambushed him in the dead of the night asking him to allegedly save one of their own who was being haunted by powerful male MPs.

The powerful individual allegedly called nearly all the first time and other junior senators who had not made up their minds to vote in favour of the governor.

This directive from the external powerful government official coupled with the CoG finances deal allegedly saved the governor.
