Kawira Mwangaza Faces Fresh Legal Problem

Bisieged Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza is facing fresh woes after an agency issued a copyright infringement notice against Baite TV.

NEXTAd Media claimed, in a notice issued on Thursday, that it solely owns the ‘Baite’ trademark and that the Mwangaza-owned media station violated its right.

NEXTAd demanded that the outlet declares all benefits accrued from the use of the trademark and further, that it discontinues its use.

“Given the*preceding, our client has instructed us to demand from you, as we hereby do:
the immediate and unconditional cessation of using the name “Baite” in running
the TV station mentioned above,” the firm demanded.

The demand came days after the Senate short down a proposal for a committee to consider impeachment.

Senators instead maintained that they will consider the impeachment as a plenary of the whole House.

Fifty-nine Members of County Assembly voted to impeach Mwangaza over gross violations of the law.

Some ten ward representatives considered allies of the county snubbed the sitting.

Mwangaza’s impeachment came months after the Senate spared her following her ouster by Meru MCAs on similar grounds.
