MP Salasya’s Condition That Will Make Him Dump Azimio, Join Ruto

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya now want President William Ruto to fulfil one condition for him to ditch Azimio for Kenya Kwanza.

Speaking on Wednesday, Salasya said all President Ruto needs to do is lower the cost of fuel.

He said if the price of fuel is reduced to Sh150 from the current Sh220 he will ditch the Opposition for Kenya Kwanza.

“I will tell him everything I have said here and if he follows that he will be the best President and if he brings the cost of fuel down from Sh220 to Sh150, I will join Kenya Kwanza. If he does it I’m dumping Azimio. Mr President, please reduce the price of fuel and I will support you,” Salasya said on Citizen TV.

The Mumias East legislator claimed that President William Ruto’s aides have been misadvising him on matters of economy and it is time he got rid of them.

Salasya insisted that President Ruto should also channel most focus on fixing the country’s ailing economy.

He said once the economy is fixed, Ruto will be Kenya’s best president.

“Let him (Ruto) just address the cost of living, fuel and whatever and he will be the best president.”

Salasya commended Ruto for the efforts he has been putting in, in his bid to unite the country following a highly divided presidential contest in 2022.

“Thank God he’s now bringing together the country. He is now being felt as president. This is the time for him to get rid of friends who have been misadvising him to tax people. Those people who call you Zakayo, you must surprise them,” the MP said.

His remarks come at the backdrop of complaints by Kenyans over the high cost of living.

This has been prompted by several newly imposed taxes as a result of the enactment of the Finance Act, 2023 by the National Assembly.

President William Ruto has been exploring options that can help his administration raise revenues to help fulfill his campaign pledges.
