Hidden Reason Behind Mudavadi’s Secretary’s Resignation

The secretary of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Kibisu Kabatesi, has submitted his resignation, citing personal reasons for his departure. Kabatesi expressed his gratitude to Mudavadi for the chance to serve under him and also extended his thanks to President Ruto for the opportunity to fulfill his role.

Kabatesi’s resignation is effective November 1, 2023. He said that he is resigning with a clear conscience, and asked Mudavadi to offer him his payment for all accumulated dues and arrears.

Kabatesi was appointed to the docket in March 2023, and was tasked with supervising government strategic communication of policy, its articulation and dissemination. He also oversaw and guided strategic communication across government ministries, state departments and agencies, and took charge of strategic communication capacity building for MDAs through the development of training, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms of strategic communication practice within government.

Kabatesi is a long-serving aide of Mudavadi, having previously served as his director for communications, private secretary and spokesman.

Kabatesi’s resignation is a blow to Mudavadi, as he was a trusted aide and confidant. It also raises questions about the stability of Mudavadi’s office, as this is the second high-profile resignation in recent months.

It remains to be seen who will replace Kabatesi, and whether Mudavadi will be able to find someone who can match his skills and experience.

The resignation also comes at a time when Mudavadi is facing increasing pressure from his political rivals. It is possible that this pressure is contributing to the instability in his office.

Only time will tell what the long-term implications of Kabatesi’s resignation will be. However, it is clear that this is a significant development that could have a major impact on Mudavadi’s political career.
