Major Crime Simba Arati Has Been Accused of

Kisii Governor Simba Arati claimed that some ward representatives (MCAs) in his county are afraid of traveling by air.

Mr. Arati was responding to Mugirango South MP Silvanus Osoro’s complaint that the governor discriminates against councilors on his trips abroad.

He questioned whether Arati favors the Azimio MCAs and denies the opportunity to Kenya Kwanza members to accompany him.

“It’s not true that I left behind other ward representatives; that’s not true. I traveled with 51 representatives and left 21 behind because some are afraid of flying and others didn’t have passports,” the governor said at Nyanturago Grounds in Nyaribari Chache constituency, Kisii.

The event was also attended by President William Ruto and other leaders from the region.

Governor Arati stated that he was ready to work with President Ruto to ensure development is brought to Kisii County.

“As the Governor of Kisii, I am ready to work with the central government,” the governor pledged.

He acknowledged that President Ruto defeated opposition leader Raila Odinga in the August 2022 general elections.

However, he appealed to President Ruto to meet with Mr. Odinga to hold discussions and prevent the wave of protests witnessed in the country two months ago.

Governor Arati, serving his first term, also emphasized that Mr. Odinga was not coveting a coalition government.

“It’s important to understand that politics must be conducted with some level of decorum. All leaders should have patience because no angel will descend from heaven; we are the ones to help our people,” the governor explained.
