Raila Makes Unsuspected Move Ahead of Today’s Talk

Days after jetting in the country, US senator Chris Coons who is well known for brokering 2018 handshake met the former prime minister Raila Odinga yesterday.

This is according to a report covered on Monday’s People Daily publication which indicates what the duo agreed on ahead of much awaited today’s talks between Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition’s dialogue committee and that of Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza.

According to the report, the two leaders that no team will take a hardline position during talks in order to find a quick solution to all the raised issues.

The report as well adds that the talks will be chaired by former Nigerian president Obasanjo despite opposition from Ruto’s camp.

This comes days after the former prime minister Raila Odinga ruled out a potential handshake with Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.

However in response, Ruto called on opposition to denounce Anti-government demonstrations in order for talks to kick off, a sentiment that Raila Odinga downplayed by unveiling a new form of mass action demonstrations.

It should be noted that Azimio la Umoja Coalition tabled five issues which will be discussed. They include IEBC reconstitution, inclusivity in the national affairs, respecting the democracy and addressing police brutality.

On the other side, Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza camp named IEBC reforms and embedment of office of official opposition leader and that of prime cabinet secretary as their main agenda.
