MP Elachi Confesses on How She Used Raila

In an unexpected turn of events, Beatrice Elachi, an MP representing Dagoretti North Constituency in Nairobi for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has voiced a sharp critique of her fellow ODM Members of Parliament (MPs).

She alleges that many of them have been merely leveraging the name and influence of party leader Raila Odinga to secure their parliamentary seats.

Elachi made this claim during an interview with journalist Enock Sikolia on Youtube. Despite the potential backlash that could ensue, Elachi boldly stated that her revelation, albeit disappointing to some ODM MPs, represented nothing but the truth.

“I know I will say this, but my ODM MPs will feel disappointed. I think, that the years Baba vied for presidency, our team has never wanted Baba to win as President. What we have done, is to use Raila to win our game,” she confidently stated.

Elachi further claimed that the affection and backing for Odinga, especially during the five times he vied for the presidential seat, were insincere. This she attributes to fears amongst the MPs and people close to Odinga that, should he ascend to the presidency, they might lose their privileged status.

“…but to make him a President we feared. We feared that when Baba becomes the President, because of how he is and very liberal, Baba would have embraced the whole country. It was a fear on his circle, that if he moves to the presidency, we lose him, and we become useless,” Elachi claimed.

This revelation has sparked a firestorm of debate in the political landscape, challenging the unity and internal cohesion of the ODM. Critics are questioning the motives of these MPs who, according to Elachi, only use Odinga’s name for their political gain.

However, as the news breaks, it remains to be seen how these assertions by Elachi will impact the dynamics of the ODM, its relationship with Raila Odinga, and the overall political atmosphere in Kenya. Will this be a wake-up call for the ODM to introspect and realign its values? Only time will tell.
