The MDG party has remained very strong in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and is slowly growing to be an alternative party in the Luo Nyanza region.

Wamban has declared that he will be vying for the Gem constituency parliamentary seat which is currently occupied by Elisha Odhiambo of the Orange Democratic Movement party.

Odhiambo is currently at loggerheads with the party after he together with other members of Parliament visited President William Ruto and even declared that they will be supporting his agenda.

Other Luo Nyanza members of Parliament who visited Ruto and are being seen as defiant are; Lang’ata constituency member of Parliament Hon Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o, Suba South constituency member of Parliament Hon Caroli Omondi, Uriri constituency MP Mark Nyamita, Bondo constituency member of Parliament Hon Gideon Ochanda, and Kisumu county senator Professor Tom Ojienda.

The move by Wamban is a huge boost to ODM which is currently facing attack by the United Democratic Alliance party which is keen to get a share of its traditional support base.
