Details of Ruto, Mudavadi, and Rigathi’s visit to Machogu’s home, however, remained scanty, with sources privy to the under-happenings hinting on a political meeting.

Arati the former Dagoretti North MP had been a fierce critic of Ruto’s camp and Raila Odinga’s ODM party fronted him for Kisii county’s top seat during the August 9, polls.

However, this is not the first time that the ODM governor is meeting with Ruto and Gachagua.

In December 2022, President William Ruto hosted CS Ezekiel Machogu, Governor Simba Arati, DG Monda and South Mugirango MP, Silvanus Osoro at State House, Nairobi for a night meeting. Arati later announced that he had visited Ruto to advocate for the launch of developments in his county.

Ruto later toured parts of Kisii in 2023, launching different development projects in a county that gave him good sizable votes in August despite being considered one of Azimio’s strongholds

In March this year, CAS Foreign and Diaspora affairs Joash Maangai, Governor Arati received President Dr. William Ruto and his Deputy Hon. Rigathi Gachagua for the Thanksgiving Service of Education CS Hon. Ezekiel Machogu at Getacho, Nyaribari Masaba Constituency.

Arati has insisted that as Gusii Azimio leaders, they will support Raila Odinga politically but will embrace President Ruto for developments. He said his administration will work closely with the national government to achieve its dreams.

However, Saturday’s meeting still remains a mystery, with many wondering whether this will change Arati’s political landscape.
