EMBARRASSMENT AS GOVERNORS BOYCOTT RUTO’S MEETING

Governors today including from UDA party skipped President William Ruto’s high profile meeting which was set to discuss the controversial Finance Bill 2023.

Addressing the press at State House during the Presidential Economic Dialogue on Value Chains on Friday, Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru who is the Council of Governors (CoG) chair said that only 15 counties were re-presented.

According to the second term governor, the County CEOs skipped the event due to a short notice they were given. She added that Madaraka Day further complicated the situation.

“All these counties would have been here your Excellency expect that the notice was a bit short and yesterday was Madaraka Day. But we are about 15, I am trying to locate them.” Waiguru said as she failed to introduce them.

During the meeting, the Head of State drummed up support for the proposed Housing Fund while reiterating his past remarks on borrowing Singapore’s model to actualize the affordable and decent houses for Kenyans.
