RAILA’S LONG-TERM ALLY DUMPS HIM AND JOINS UDA TO SUPPORT WILLIAM RUTO

Former Cabinet Minister Musa Sirma, a longtime supporter of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, on Monday, August 30, switched political loyalty to Deputy President William Ruto.

He has politically been supporting Raila’s ambition for the presidency in the region and campaigning for the ODM Leader in the Rift Valley Region.

He had previously joined the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party led by Gideon Moi but shortly after fell out with Baringo Senator.

He has previously served as the Minister for  East African and Regional Cooperation and was the sitting member of parliament for Eldama Ravine in Baringo County for one term. The political switch is seen as a move of jumping into the popular bandwagon United Democratic Alliance(UDA) in the Rift valley.

In 2007, Sirma led a mass number of MPS from the Kalenjin community into endorsing Ruto’s presidency using the ODM party ticket before the party decided on Raila.

The move was not welcomed by Daniel arap Moi’s Family as he had led a team against them in the Rift valley which was a contributing factor to their regional control.

Although, he had previously defended the patriarch Moi against National Rainbow Coalition (Narc) over harassing the retired president.

This was after the tabling of a presidential retirement bill barring beneficiaries of the presidential scheme from getting involved in politics.

“Today morning, I had a meeting with Deputy President William Samoei Ruto at his Karen residence. We discussed matters of national unity and current affairs in the political arena.#Team111We are strong,” the veteran politician stated.

“Growing day by day. Musa Sirma is a welcome addition to our team,” Boni Khalwale stated while welcoming the former MP.
