ANOTHER POPULAR GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL FOUND DEAD

Police in Lugari have launched investigations into the death of a procurement officer at the Turbo National Youth Service (NYS) station whose body was discovered decomposing inside his house.

Confirming the incident, Lugari Sub-county Police Commander Bernard Ngungu said the officer who lives alone went missing from the work station since Tuesday last week raising concern from other staff.

“He hadn’t reported for duty since Tuesday and nobody knew about his whereabouts,” said the sub-county police boss.

After failing to see him for more than five days, his colleagues launched a search for him and forced entry into his house which had been locked from inside.

He said the staff was forced to break a windowpane to the officer’s house and on peeping inside they were shocked to discover his decomposing body lying on the floor before the matter was reported at Turbo police station.

The security team together with the NYS staff were forced to break the back door to access the body which was later removed and taken to Kimbilio Home Nursing Mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County for postmortem.

Ngungu said the case has been taken over by the DCI department who are pursuing it to unravel the cause of his death.
