DP RUTO GETS A NEW ALLY

If Deputy President Ruto needs to successfully reject the BBI, he’s going to need all the politicians he can get. That’s why in the coming days, he will warmly welcome the man who once accused him of threatening his life.

Machakos Governor and presidential aspirant Dr Alfred Mutua has said that the BBI should be meant to serve the people and not a select group of leaders.

Speaking in Matuu during his listening tours, the governor echoed Ruto saying Kenyans were not going to endorse the initiative blindly without first interrogating it.

“WE WILL NOT ENDORSE THE BBI REPORT BLINDLYThe BBI process should be for the people and not confined to a select group of individuals hellbent on using it for 2022 political formations,” stated Mutua.

Just like Deputy President had said in Kisii during Mashujaa Day celebrations, Governor Mutua said that there is need for a national dialogue concerning BBI. Failure of national dialogue according to Alfred Mutua will see a select crop of people hijacking the BBI for 2022 national elections.

“I call on the President to ensure a national dialogue involving all leaders in the process and handle perceptions that the process has been hijacked by few selfish individuals keen on benefiting from it,” added Mutua.

The presidential hopeful was in Matuu taking views of the community which will help him develop a manifesto for 2022 campaigns.

“I am humbled by the warm reception in Matuu Town as I held a listening tour with Wananchi to collect concerns and ideas that will inform my manifesto ahead of the 2020 presidential elections,” he said.

It comes as a welcome relief for DP Ruto to see that the No campaign is gaining members. Narok Governor Ledama Ole Kina has also shown displeasure on the document and is expected to oppose it.

Ruto said that BBI should not be about bringing divisions. “If we are genuine about having a united nation, we have had a true consensus that is it must be devoid of division between winners and losers,” said Ruto.

“It must not be a conversation about leaders only. The poor should also be listened to as well. The hustlers want to be listened to and their grievances are taken into consideration,” added Ruto who was speaking at Uhuru grounds in Eldoret during the burial ceremony of Hurama Ward MCA Peter Chomba.
