GOVERNOR MUTUA LOSES IT

It seems Machakos residents have developed a routine in the last seven years. 1. Wake up. 2. Switch on their radios. 3. Listen to national leaders launching projects 4. Hear Mutua’s shrilly voice lying 5. Get depressed and start crying. 6. Go back to sleep.

We cannot take this away from Mutua: he’s a lofty dreamer. When he sees a camera he starts dreaming. Beautiful dreams warped in a soothing lying voice. He fills people with hope. He’s worth of an Oscar when he gets emotional. One time he cried as he symbolically kicked a water jerrican. He promised no Machakos resident will ever lack water again. Of course he was lying.

It reached a point where many Kenyans accepted his lying as a way of life. From the time he slighted US President Barack Obama to when he lied that every homestead in Machakos will have piped water within a month. No one cares anymore. Even when he launched the chap chap roads no one was surprised. That’s why no one questioned him when the roads he constructed under the chap chap program were carried away by wind.

Mutua now has added hypocrisy and double standards to his lies. For a long time he has castigated Ruto for campaigning terming them premature campaigns. It’s ironical because he admonishes him while on the campaign trail.

Launching his campaigns on 6th September 2020, Alfred Mutua played with words like he always does. “At independence, our parents, our freedom fighters, wept with joy as they watched our flag rise and that of the colonialists lowered. We were hopeful. We told ourselves, we will be rich, we will be developed, we will be happy.
“We need to start afresh. We need to change the way things are done & the way leaders serve. We need something new – a fresh start,” he declared.

After launching his presidential ambition, now he has nicknamed his campaigns, ‘Listening tours’. Wearing animal print shirts in obvious copying of the Head of State, he transverses the country campaigning and telling people that DP Ruto should not campaign. The only good thing from this spectacle is that the Deputy President has largely ignored him. The last time the DP shook his hands, Mutua went crying to the press that the DP wanted to kill him with a handshake. DP Ruto alinifinya mkono nikaona ataniua na kuniangalia na macho mbaya huko State House,’ he cried.

It’s evident that Alfred Mutua is not serious with his presidential ambition. He pretends to work with Jubilee and Raila Odinga. Time and again, Jubilee leaders close to the president have said that Raila is the preferred presidential candidate. Why is Mutua not throwing tantrum over such? Why does he pretend to work with Raila and not Ruto yet they all have an interest in the presidency?

Yesterday Mutua lost it and publicly alluded that the DP is a thief. Why would someone wanting the top seat in the country not have decorum in his campaigns? Does the country need someone with total disregard to authority? He might not respect Ruto, but why not respect the office that he represents?

How do Machakos residents feel when they see their governor on the campaign trail everyday? Do they have to book an appointment so that their governor can visit his own county? How do they feel when they see their governor crying as he listens to troubles affecting residents of other counties? The same problems affecting them only that Governor Mutua never asked them.
