I sold chang’aa to raise fees…” Babu Owino shares his childhood experience.

Embakasi East member of parliament, Babu Owino on Saturday  through his Facebook page shared his struggle as a child. The mp mentioned that there were days they could go without food but still he did not lose hope on his education.

“I remember when we used to go without food but still had to soldier on and find my path in life. A path that was to make a difference to my mum and other family members.”

The mp stated that he had to sell chang’aa to  raise school fees for his primary Education  together with high school Education. He said that he knew only  Education would get him out of poverty, he later adviced people to invest in Education as it is the only way out.

“I had to burn the midnight oil to study at the same time sell  chang’aa to raise my school fees both at primary  school and High school. I knew very well that it’s Education that could get me through the shackle of poverty and i decided to concentrate on it. It worked. Let’s invest in Education fellow parents, brothers and sisters. Never give up comrades God is in it.”

On Sunday, he went on and urged people to trust in God.

“Those days when we were left to grow coz mum was searching for food. Trust in God he will turn your scars into stars, your slope into hope.”
