NO HOPE: WHY BABU OWINO WILL LOSE HIS SEAT.

Six days before the August General Election, a parliamentary candidate in the Embakasi East constituency has pulled out of the race and thrown his weight behind one of his opponents in their efforts to unseat the incumbent Babu Owino.

Deputy President William Ruto took to his social media page on Tuesday, August 2, to announce that Maina Waruinge, a candidate on a Jubilee Party ticket, had stepped down from the Embakasi MP race.

Ruto said that Wairunge would be supporting the United Democratic Alliance candidate Francis Mureithi in his bid for the parliamentary seat.

“Embakasi East Jubilee MP aspirant Maina Waruinge quits the race and defects to UDA to support Francis Mureithi,” Ruto said.

Mureithi is seeking to oust Babu Owino.

In 2017, Mureithi, who was contesting on a Jubilee Ticket, lost narrowly to Babu Owino.

Other candidates in the race include Paul Okumu, Joash Omwenga and Stephen Maina.
