Karua Shares Consequences if Raila Doesn’t Endorse Her

Martha Karua, leader of the Narc party, addressed the possibility of not receiving support from Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio One Kenya coalition, for her presidential bid in the 2027 election.

Karua expressed that such a scenario wouldn’t surprise her, emphasizing that divergent opinions within the coalition don’t necessarily signify disunity. She underscored Odinga’s right to endorse any candidate of his choice, stating that his decision wouldn’t unsettle her.

Karua made these remarks during an interview with a local media outlet, where she maintained her composure regarding potential non-endorsement by Odinga.

Meanwhile, Raila Odinga refuted claims of endorsing Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Party, as the presidential candidate for the upcoming election.

He clarified that the Azimio la Umoja coalition remains united, asserting that they will collectively decide on their presidential candidate when the appropriate time arrives.

In an exclusive interview with Citizen TV, Raila emphasized the necessity of implementing electoral reforms advocated by the opposition before the 2027 election.

He highlighted the importance of reconstituting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and adhering to the Political Parties Act for a fair electoral process. Raila implied that participation in the upcoming election without these reforms would be futile.

Overall, the statements from Karua and Raila shed light on the dynamics within the Azimio coalition and their respective stances regarding the upcoming presidential election.

While Karua remains pragmatic about potential lack of endorsement, Raila prioritizes electoral reforms as prerequisites for meaningful participation in the democratic process.
