Huge Mistake Prosecutors Made that Has Set Jackie Maribe Free

Former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe has been acquitted by the High Court due to the prosecution’s failure to establish her presence at the scene of Monica Kimani’s murder.

Justice Grace Nzioka, in her ruling, emphasized the absence of evidence demonstrating Maribe’s communication with Monica or her presence at the crime scene.

The judge criticized the prosecution for erroneously charging Maribe and highlighted the lack of evidence linking her to the critical night of the incident. “The evidence didn’t establish Maribe’s presence at the scene on the crucial night,” remarked the judge.

The prosecution’s evidence primarily focused on a separate shooting incident involving Jowie Irungu on September 20, where Maribe provided false information to the police.

During the verdict, Maribe defended herself by stating that she was with former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on the day in question and refuted any involvement in Kimani’s murder. She explained that her phone was switched off that day, refuting the assumption of guilt in the alleged murder case.

The judge concluded that the prosecution failed to refute Maribe’s defense, which asserted her absence from the crime scene at the time of the incident.
