Court Postpones Judgment In Murder Case Against Jowie, Maribe

The High Court in Nairobi has rescheduled the verdict in the murder case against Joshua Irungu alias Jowie and former TV news anchor Jacqueline Maribe to December 15, 2023.

High Court Judge Grace Nzioka was supposed to deliver the ruling today, following the conclusion of the trial in July, but it has been reported that she was unable to do so owing to illness.

The two ex-lovers are charged with the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani who was found dead with her throat slit at her Nairobi home in September 2018.

When the trial ended in in July, the defense handed in their final submissions where Irungu and Maribe, through their lawyers, asked the court to acquit them.

They argued that the prosecution had failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that they are culpable of killing Monica who was found brutally murdered at her home in Lamuria Gardens.
