Eugene Wamalwa’s Dramatic Walkout During Opaque Poll Result Tally Shakes Bomas

Eugene Wamalwa, the former Cabinet Secretary, abruptly left the Bipartisan Talks when the ex-IEBC commissioners were discussing the events of the 2022 presidential election.

Eugene Wamalwa, a member of the bipartisan committee, found himself embroiled in a heated dispute during the Bomas talks.

The source of his frustration was a faction of President William Ruto’s supporters who vehemently opposed the Cherera Four submission.

This divergence of opinion ignited tensions within the discussions. Moreover, it’s reported that an altercation ensued between Wamalwa and some Kenya Kwanza politicians during the meeting. Their conflicting stances further contributed to the escalating tension in the room.

To make matters more complicated, the absence of Wafula Chebukati, a notable figure in the electoral commission, created an additional void in the talks.

This combination of factors ultimately led to Wamalwa’s abrupt departure from the Bomas discussion, highlighting the significant challenges faced in achieving bipartisan consensus.

Before staging the walkout, Wamalwa maintained the stance that IEBC did not deliver credible elections. He overwhelmingly supported Cherara Four that last year’s poll should be audited.

But while Chebukati, Molu and Guliye sent a letter enumerating a litany of reasons for not being present, Nyang’aya and Wanderi appeared physically. Cherera and Masiit appeared virtually. They maintained that poll outcome announced by Chebukati was opaque.

Wamalwa said Azimio was going to deal with arrogance portrayed by Chebakati in his letter to bipartisan team.

” We were hoping Chebukati would be here and he has denied the country to hear the story from both sides, the arrogance in his letter is something will deal with,’’ he noted

Chebukati justified his absence that their appearance would betray the commission staff who had allegedly been killed by police.
