Man Caught Touching Policewoman in Public

A middle-aged man found himself before the Makadara Law Court on Monday, facing charges of indecently touching a female police officer while she was carrying out her official duties.

According to court documents, Erick Kibagendi, while in the Bungoma area within Makadara sub-county, allegedly seized the right-hand breast of the female officer, who had arrived to effect an arrest.

In a separate charge, Kibagendi stands accused of assaulting a male police officer while resisting arrest. In response to the charges, Kibagendi entered a plea of not guilty to all counts and was subsequently granted release on a cash bail of Sh30,000.

During his defense, Kibagendi informed the trial magistrate that he had been inebriated at the time of the incident and denied any intention to assault the police officers as alleged.

Furthermore, he claimed to have no recollection of how he ended up in police custody, attributing his state to excessive alcohol consumption. Kibagendi stated that he only regained consciousness to find himself surrounded by reminders of his actions.

Magistrate Mercy Malingu presiding over the case instructed that the prosecution should provide the accused with all evidence and documents they intend to rely on in building their case.

The case is scheduled for mention on November 2, with the purpose of confirming compliance with the court’s directives and ensuring a fair and thorough legal process.
