Lawyers George Kariuki and Elisha Komoro noted that they can nolonger Represent the cult leader claiming that they have gone through a lot of frustrations since the case began.

According to the lawyers, they have been receiving threats and they are now afraid of continuing with the case.

They also claimed that Mackenzie and his co-accused might not get any justice before the court. They claimed that it has been very hard for them to access the suspects and this makes it hard for them to effectively Represent them.

Further, they claimed that the suspects have been facing a lot of frustrations and their lives are at risk. According to them, the suspects have been sleeping on the floor for the last 60 days and this has risked their lives.

They claimed that the suspects might contract disease which might end up killing them even before the trial.

“With the challenges that the suspects are going through and the current circumstances, I feel my conscience is disturbed,” lawyer Kariuki was quoted on Wednesday at Shanzu law Courts.

“They have been sleeping on the floor for 60 days. It defeats justice… Surely, they might become sick and die before trial,” the lawyer was quoted further.

They have since requested to be Rescued from the case after handling it for months now. This is undoubtedly a huge blow to the cult leader who is accused of asking followers to fast to death.

It is not the first time the lawyers have complained about being frustrated. When Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Professor Kithure Kindiki vowed to have Mackenzie get rearrested should the court set him free, the lawyers lamented noting that their client might not get any fair hearing.
