ICC to Start Investigation on Kenya Police Brutality

In a recent development, ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen has shed light on the trajectory that the case concerning police brutality in Kenya will take at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

This revelation comes after months of the opposition decrying instances of police brutality during anti-government protests, asserting that the government’s orders have led to crimes against humanity through the use of lethal force.

Ong’wen, a prominent figure within Azimio’s top leadership, has stepped forward with details on how the process will unfold before the International Criminal Court.

Addressing the issue through a local media, he underscored that meticulous documentation of the killings and maiming was currently underway by the opposition. Upon compiling this evidence, it will be presented to the ICC, signaling the initiation of formal investigations into these grave allegations.

Within the statement, Ong’wen did not shy away from censuring the Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome. He warned that, regardless of Koome’s present office, his actions would inevitably catch up with him.

In addition to his criticism of Koome, Ong’wen expressed disillusionment regarding Koome’s claim that the opposition had orchestrated the presence of corpses during requiem masses for victims of police brutality. Ong’wen claimed that such remarks were scornful to the grieving families.
