President William Ruto to Visit Nyanza Region Again

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday held a meeting with a section of elected leaders from the Nyanza region.

Murkomen said, in a statement, that the meeting held at Transcom House in Nairobi comes in preparation for President William Ruto’s visit to the Nyanza region.

The Transport pointed out that the meeting was focused on the development and expansion of road infrastructure in the lakeside region.

“Our discussions focused on the President’s commitment to expand road infrastructure in the region as part of this Administration’s efforts to improve trade, investment and tourism, and create employment for the residents of the region,” said Murkomen.

The delegation hosted by Murkomen was led by ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo who earlier this week led a similar team to State House for a meeting with the President.

Leaders from the Nyanza region who attended the State House meeting included MPs Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Tom Ojienda (Kisumu ), Caroli Omondi (Suba South ), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Paul Abuor (Rongo) and Phelix Odiwuor (Lang’ata).

According to a statement sent to newsrooms from State House, the Head of State assured the leaders that his administration would work with leaders from all parts of the country, regardless of their political affiliation.

Following the meeting with the Transport CS, Langata MP Phelix Odiwour said, in a tweet, “The dualing and expansion of Langata Rd  from Galeria  past Karen Hospital to Karen Crossroads  will be a mega game changer.”

The Head of State is expected to visit the Nyanza region next week.
