Police Arrest Spider Man Spotted in Nanyuki

On Thursday, Kenyans online were left with question marks when a Twitter user posted photos showing a man in full Spider-Man costume, seemingly minding his business only to find himself inside a police vehicle.

A Twitter account @InsecurityKE, posted four photos showing the arrest of the Nanyuki ‘Spider-Man’ and wondered why the Administration Police Service (APS) arrested the man who was walking the streets reading a book and carrying a shopping basket.

“Oya @APSKenya, Why did you guys arrest Spider-Man?” tweeted the account and tagged the APSKenya account.

The tweet went viral and was at over 800 RTs at the time of publishing this story and everyone wants to know what exactly happened.

Well, a local media house contacted the Nanyuki APS who revealed the real reason behind their action insisting that they did not arrest the man but were on a wellness check.

A source at APS who did not wish to be identified said the man is mentally unstable and had been reported missing by his family who sought the help of the police to find him.

It is then that he was spotted in Nanyuki town and was taken away as the officers contacted the family to come and get him.

Moments after his apprehension, family members rushed to Nanyuki prison with hospital documents to show that he is mentally ill and took him home.
