PRESIDENT RUTO TO ADDRESS THE NATION SHORTLY

President Ruto is set to address the nation today Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 7pm from Statehouse Kenya. Ruto will be engaged by renowned journalists from various media houses marking his second roundtable.

Ruto is scheduled to hold a second media roundtable interview addressing concerns over the cost of living and new tax proposals in Kenya’s Finance Bills, 2023. The live broadcast will take place at State House, Nairobi, at 7 pm and all Kenyans will be watching from various TV stations.

Ruto’s government has faced mounting pressure to reconsider the proposed taxes, as critics argue they would further burden households and businesses already struggling with the high cost of living.

The opposition, led by Raila Odinga, recently called off protests against the cost of living and demanded electoral justice. During yesterday’s burial of Mukami Kimathi in Nyandarua county, Raila told Ruto that Kenyans are burdened by the taxes and he should rethink his strategy.

Raila used the famous Swahili provers, ‘Punda amechoka’ meaning that Kenyans are suffering from his already implemented new taxes and he is still planning to introduce other taxes.

In today’s address to Kenyans, Ruto is expected to answer difficult questions as majority of Kenyans have disapproved his latest tax plan.
