WHY WETANGULA MISSED MUKAMI KIMATHI’S FUNERAL

Speaker of the national assembly Moses Masika Wetangula did not join other government officials in Njabini, Nyandarua County during the burial ceremony of the late Field Marshal Mukami Kimathi.

The Speaker was conspicuously missing during the ceremony which was graced by President William Ruto.

Other top leaders who attended the state funeral included Opposition Leader Raila Odinga, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi among others.

Speaker Wetangula missed the event because he was in Bungoma County, attending another burial ceremony.

Wetangula was in the Kabuchai constituency at the burial ceremony of the late Mzee Clement Wanyonyi Kimuna, a former teacher.

“We laid to rest Mzee Clement Wanyonyi Kimuna, a retired teacher in the Kabuchai constituency. Mzee Kimuna held education matters at heart and served the Country diligently up to his retirement,” the Speaker said.

Speaker Wetangula eulogized that retired teacher as a committed professional who delivered in his role with passion, and who went to uplift the living standards of the Kabuchai people even after he retired

“He discharged his duties with a lot of commitment, dedication and passion. Upon his retirement, he participated in various development programmes that uplifted the living standards of a number of residents,” said Wetangula.

Wetangula also recognized the political contributions that the deceased teacher made in his life as the Senator of Bungoma.

He said that he had a passion for mobilizing the crowd during campaigns

Wetangula has since expressed his heartfelt condolences to the deceased teacher’s family and the people of Kabuchai at large.

“He was a key member of my campaign team at the grassroots level. His mobilising skills were instrumental to the success of my political career.

“I pray that may God give the family strength to overcome the loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Wetangula added.
