TSC HIRING 13,230 TEACHERS, HERE’S HOW TO APPLY

The Teachers Service Commission ( TSC ) has embarked on mass hiring across the country.

The commission says it is seeking to employ 13,230 teachers in a bid to address the acute shortage of tutors in Kenyan schools.

Of the 13,230 teachers, 5,000 will be new vacancies while the remaining 8,230 will replace teachers who exited the service through natural attrition.

In order to address the shortage created by the government’s policy on 100% transition of learners from primary to secondary school, 3,972 teachers will go to secondary schools.

Primary schools will get 1,000 new teachers while teacher training colleges will get 28 tutors.

TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia says 6,539 teachers will be posted in primary schools while another 1,691 will be send to secondary schools to fill vacancies left by exiting teachers.

According to TSC, the the teachers who will be recruited will serve on permanent and pensionable terms of service.

The minimum qualifications for applicants is that they must be Kenyan citizens and registered with the TSC. Those applying for primary school jobs should have a PI certificate.

Those applying to teach in secondary schools must be holders of a diploma in education, while those applying for teachers training colleges must have a Bachelor of Education degree.

The deadline for submission of applications is July 7, and the list of shortlisted candidates will be uploaded on the commission’s website on July, 15.

However the commission said that the applicants will be posted in the different parts of the country and not necessarily in the county or schools where they were interviewed.

“Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the TSC website, www.tsc.go.ke under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke ,” part of the notice read.
