STORM IN ODM AS LEDAMA OLE KINA EXITS

A storm is brewing in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after key party members mulled the next move amid disappointment.

Embakasi East Babu Owino and Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina have called out the Orange party over allocating party positions.

“ODM party, so many youth and myself sacrificed a lot and used our resources in the party over the years; our pay is betrayal and blackmail. It is OK. Tomorrow is another day,” Babu Owino posted on Twitter.

ODM leaders up in arms
Reacting to Babu Owino’s post, Ledama told the outspoken lawmaker that the time had come for them to demand what was theirs in the Raila Odinga-led party.

“It’s about time we demand what is ours. Enough of always being kept in arms’ way while others chill in their cribs and are rewarded with the lion’s share of party positions,” said Ledama.

Ledama further invited Babu Owino for a drink to decide the way forward.

“Let’s have a drink, comrade @HEBabuOwino, and decide our future,” Ledama said.
Their remarks come at a time the battle between Kenya Kwanza Alliance and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party is expected to spill over to Parliament.

Parliamentary Group meetings
Already, the two leading political coalitions held separate parliamentary group meetings after the election of the Speakers of their bicameral Parliament.

After the meetings held on Friday, September 16 and 17, the coalitions unveiled lists of leaders fighting for plum positions in Parliament.

There have been opposing views on a political coalition between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio La Umoja. One Kenya Coalition party has more sway in Parliament.

Azimio’s plum parliamentary slots
Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party settled on Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi for the National Assembly Majority Leader position.

Wandayi will be deputised by his Kathiani counterpart Robert Mbui.

For the Majority Whip position, the coalition has proposed Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, who nominated MP Sabina Chege, will deputise.

In the Senate, Azimio has gone for Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo as the Minority Leader. His Kitui counterpart Enock Wambua will deputise him.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will be the Azimio’s Minority Whip and deputised by his Isiolo counterpart Fatuma Dulo.
