ODM PARTY REMOVES BABU OWINO FROM WHATSAPP GROUP

During the second reading of the 2023/2024 finance bill, 176 lawmakers voted in support of the bill while 81 others voted against the finance bill. Most of those who voted for the bill belong to the ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance while those who voted against were mainly from the opposition.

ODM released a statement indicating that the party would take disciplinary action against the parliamentarians who missed the voting of the finance bill as well as those who voted in support of the bill.

Moments after this statement, ODM members who absconded the sitting and those who voted in favor of the bill were removed from the party’s Whatsapp group.

According to a report by NTV, the MPs who have been removed from the group will now be required to face the disciplinary committee and defend themselves before further action is taken.

Among the ODM MPs who who were absent during the voting are; Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o, John Mbadi, Titus Khamala, Nabulindo, Otiende Amollo, Babu Owino among others. Some ODM MPs who voted in favor of the bill include; Esther Passaris, Elisha Odhiambo, Caroli Omondi among others.

Speaking to NTV after this action, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino said that he has explained himself.

“Whoever wants to talk about this issue of, ooh, Babu Owino did not vote, that’s their cup of tea. It’s not my cup tea. I have already explained myself,” noted Owino.
