BAD NEWS TO CHERERA AFTER SUPREME COURT RULING

With the Presidential election petition hearing underway, the four dissent IEBC commissioners led by Juliana Cherera have found themselves in a tight spot on the first day of the hearing as Supreme Court judges seek clarifications regarding their submissions.

The four commissioners, that’s vice chairperson Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang’aya, Francis Wanderi and Irene Masit are being represented by Senior Counsel Paul Muite and company and Chief Justice Martha Koome has asked them to clarify on when things stopped working at Bomas of Kenya.

That she really wants to know what necessitated them to abandon the exercise and at what time they saw it fit to jump ship.

That in earlier stages of vote verification and tallying, the commissioners could be seen participating in announcing verified votes up to that point when we were remaining with 27 Constituencies to be announced and that’s when they went missing in action, only to appear in a press briefing at Serena.

The CJ started that “I still want to understand, at what point did the commission cease to function as a corporate entity? Is it when the 27 constituencies were not announced or when?

I really want to understand that because we saw them regularly announce the results at the plenary, that’s Bomas.

We really want to understand just like how the Vice President is asking, when did the commission become so dysfunctional?”

She went ahead to ask that “there is a stage when they were working together in tallying and verifying and then went ahead to announce

Then suddenly there was a stoppage. The announcement was stopped being streamed live so we really want to understand that.”
