JUSTUS NYANG’AYA REVEALS THE ONLY REASON WHY HE RESIGNED.

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission commissioner Justus Nyang’aya has resigned from his position at the electoral body.

Nyang’aya announced his resignation on Friday hours after President William Ruto former a committee to probe the conduct of the Cherera Four of which Nyang’aya was a member.

In his resignation announcement, Nyang’aya said that he had decided it was the best thing to do for the sake of the country.

“It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation as a commissioner of the IEBC effective today (Friday),” Nyang’aya said in a letter to President William Ruto.

Nyang’aya said that he had gotten into soul searching and prayers, leading to the decision.

“I have always endeavoured to act in the best interest of the country, although my actions, taken in a good faith have been misconstrued,” he said.

Nyang’aya has been accused of gross misconduct during the August 9 General Elections together with his colleagues Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, and Francis Wanderi.

Cherera is the current vice chairperson at the electoral body. It remains to be seen whether the remain Cherera Three will follow suit with their resignations or whether they will face the tribunal that has been formed to investigate their conduct.
