PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES WHO WILL NOT ATTEND THE DEBATE

Roots Party presidential flag bearer George Wajackoyah has vowed to skip the upcoming presidential debate if Deputy President William Ruto (Kenya Kwanza) and Raila Odinga (Azimio La Umoja coalition party) fail to attend.

Speaking on KTN News on Sunday, July 10, Wajackoyah said he would not participate in the debate if he were only pitted against Agano Party flagbearer David Mwaure Waihiga.

“By subjecting me to Mwaure this side, and the two the other side, then I will not go. They will be degrading me and Mwaure, does it mean we are the remnants of the society,” Wajackoyah said.

The controversial presidential candidate said he would only participate in the debate if all four of the presidential candidates took part.

“Let the put us head-on with Ruto and Raila. I want to be with them so that they can see this Kenya does not belong to them, it belongs to everybody,” Wajackoyah said.

At one time, Deputy President William Ruto threatened to skip the presidential debate accusing the media of unfair coverage.

As TUKO.co.ke had reported, Ruto alleged a section of mainstream media stations had turned into campaign mouthpieces of his main competitor, leaving him with limited coverage.

The second in command lamented there was a conspiracy by a section of mainstream media to negatively profile his Kenya Kwanza Alliance campaigns and personalities affiliated with the alliance.

“We have noted with much concern the continued bias and propaganda in a section of Kenya’s mainstream media in abuse of statutory. Under the current partisan media environment, we have advised our candidate against participating in the presidential debate,” Kenya Kwanza Alliance said.

On his part, Raila said he would attend the debate but on condition that it is organised and prepared well to meet expectations.

“I have agreed, but other people objected. I have participated before, so it will depend on the availability and preparations of other parties…but my commitment is that I’m always ready,” Raila Odinga said.
