RAILA’S SPOKESMAN BREAKS SILENCE AFTER MEETING KALONZO

Raila’s spokesman finally breaks silence after meeting Kalonzo on Saturday

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Saturday held talks with the Spokesperson of ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential campaign secretariat Makau Mutua.

Also present was Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua.

Mutua confirmed the meeting in a social media post.

“In happier times with my brothers @skmusyoka and Senator @kiiowambua. Let’s hope ‘the past is prologue,” Mutua wrote on Facebook.

Mutua did not, however, disclose details of the meeting but speculation is rife that talks centred on a possibility of reuniting the Wiper boss with Raila.

The meeting comes in the wake of mixed reports surrounding the political future of the Wiper boss.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka had announced his departure from the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party after Raila Odinga settled on Martha Karua as his running mate.

Kalonzo said that he and Raila had agreed to go their separate ways and he opted to go it alone in the August presidential polls. He named 2013 Wiper Narok senatorial aspirant Mr Andrew Sunkuli as his running mate.

“We have agreed to go our separate ways or the sake of this country. It is never too late to come back home,” Mr Musyoka said.

“I declared in Jacaranda Grounds my support for Mr Odinga for the third time. But since then a lot of things have happened,” he added.

While accepting his nomination as Mr Kalonzo’s running mate, he said that: “It is a weird election as I received a call from Kalonzo while campaigning for myself and Raila. When he told me I was going to be his running mate, I thought we will be going on morning runs together.

“With all humility, I accept to be the running mate of the Wiper party presidential candidate,” Mr Sunkuli said.

Even as he has been pondering on his next political move, reports have emerged that the Wiper leader could be heading back to Azimio.

Reliable sources indicate that Kalonzo is yet to write to the registrar of parties to seek an exit from Azimio or even go to court, an indicator that talks were underway to convince the Wiper boss to join Azimio.
