GOVERNOR KIRAITU MURUNGI CHANGES TUNE, DELIVERS BAD NEWS TO MT KENYA

DEP Party leader and Meru County Governor Kiraitu Murungi says Central Kenya should bury hopes of clinching the presidential seat in next year’s general elections.

Speaking on Tuesday at a meeting of his Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP), the governor disputed assertions that the Central Kenya alliances prior to the 2022 general elections would present a suitable presidential candidate for the top seat saying that their efforts will be futile.

Lakini hio kiti, wakati huu tukubali, we will not get it, minimum ten years or even more years; could even be 20 years,” Kiraitu noted.

Kiraitu similarly belittled National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi’s presidential bid saying that he does not stand a chance against the already declared candidates and should not hold high hopes.

“There will be no president coming from Mount Kenya region and am sorry to say even my friend JB, amejaribu sana lakini ata sioni akiingia,” Kiraitu stated.

The Governor maintained that the only thing Mt. Kenya leaders can secure is government positions but should forget about succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We can look for something else there but wakati huu hio kiti hapana,” he said.
