A popular Member of Parliament from the county of Kisumu (Kisumu Central) MP Fred Ouda was on Friday taken into police custody over allegations of incitement.

Police in Kisumu are grilling Kisumu Central MP Fred Ouda after chaotic scenes were witnessed at a hotel in Milimani area leaving three people injured.

Kisumu County Police Commander Richard Ng’eno says the MP was taken in for questioning moments after the incident which took place at Kalongolongo restaurant.

Ng’eno says they are holding him for interrogation on issues of incitement and malicious damage to property.

Four people were seriously injured during the altercation and were rushed to hospital.

The incident has been condemned by a section of Kisumu residents, some of whom were at the eatery during the incident that pitted supporters of the MP and those of the constituency aspirant Joshua Oron.
