DP RUTO DECONSTRUCTS BBI

Today Ruto stood before a room full of 6000 people. 6000 people who were rigid in their stand. A stand that did not tally with his stand. They jeered and shouted as he made his speech. The Deputy President was not deterred. The 6000 people to him were just props, he was addressing the millions of Kenyans listening and watching him from their homes. He delivered. He rose to the occasion.

Itumbi captured the moment perfectly when he tweeted, “September 29th, 2011, Two years to the 2013 Succession election, The COUNTRY listened as Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta testified at @IntlCrimCourt, that Moment, forever memorable. Today, Oct, 26th, 2020- DP @WilliamsRuto spoke, the NATION listened. PRESIDENTIAL!” If one day Ruto will become the president of this country, he as many Kenyans will remember this day as the day he won the heart of millions of Kenyans.

Ruto would start his speech in the most humble way. No one would imagine the hard facts that would follow thereafter. He would start by saying as a scientist he likes taking his time to read something and internalize before making a judgement. He asked Kalonzo to give Kenyans time to finish reading the document since not every one is a fast reader.

Winner takes all

On the issue of winner take all, the Deputy President wondered how a president who will appoint The Prime Minister and his deputies cures it all.

Issue about IEBC

On appointment of IEBC commissioners. My brother Raila Odinga is good at football. So, let me ask: How fair a league will it be where the referee is appointed by some teams. Unless you persuade me that we will end up with a fair game. I have my reservations.

Even his fiercest critics could not help but admire the Deputy President. Abraham Mutai would tweet, ” I don’t support William Ruto. But William Ruto has asked BRILLIANT questions that, if at all we are talking about Inclusivity, we must find answers for or a more neutral ground. It is a constitutional moment. A moment that we all must partake. Painful or sweet. #BBILaunch”
