SITAKI KUMI, WILLIAM RUTO SURRENDERS

Deputy President William Ruto now says that he only needs five years in leadership to show Kenyans what he can deliver to them as their president.

Speaking in Nyeri, DP Ruto said that he is no longer interested in serving the people of Kenya for 10 years as per the agreement he had with President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013.

The two leaders had previously agreed that President Kenyatta would rule the country for 10 years and pass the baton to his deputy for another 10 years.

Ruto has now distanced himself from the agreement, noting that he needs only five years to prove his worth and that it is Kenyans who will decide whether to re-elect him.

“We have heard a debate where our president wanted to serve the nation for 10 years then let me go for another 10 years.

But now I want to tell you that I am no longer interested in the 10 years, I only need you to give me five years. If my work impresses you in the five years, you can add me another five but if I fail, you have the liberty to elect another president,” Ruto said.

The Deputy President, however, maintained that he will deliver his promises to Kenyans if elected as president in the August elections.
