‘Please save my Waiguru’, Atwoli begs Senate.

Atwoli has begged the Senate to save Waiguru from impeachment after she was rejected by 23 out of 33 Kirinyaga MCAs. Atwoli has said impeaching Waiguru would make it difficult to sell BBI in Mount Kenya as she’s the only spirited leader campaigning for it in Mt Kenya.

Even though Mount Kenya Governors and Senators have been seen to support Kieleweke, it’s seen as just a way of survival in a region where the president calls the shots. Most of the leaders are seen to secretly support Ruto or oppose Raila.

Unlike during Waititu ouster and the Jubilee house purge, this time Atwoli has taken sides in supporting the victim. Atwoli said the MCAs should use other channels to solve their issues because it would be wrong to impeach a governor who is loyal to the president. “If Waiguru is wrong, they can use the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission or the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to address any wrongdoing. However, we are calling for a dialogue.” He said.

Atwoli also added, “There are many channels of addressing issues in our Constitution. It would be good if the MCAs considered them first.” Talking about BBI, Atwoli said that he was confident that it would be accepted by Kenyans. He said, “We have seen Kenyans present their views and everything is moving forward well. We know all the views will be implemented so that the country enjoys peace. And Uhuru wants peace, stability and growth of this country.”
