Teacher Commits Suicide Demand to be Buried on Valentine’s Day

A young teacher hailing from Embu County tragically ended his life on Wednesday, February 7, following rejection by his ex-girlfriend.

Leaving behind a poignant note, the despondent young man expressed his inability to bear the thought of his former love finding happiness with someone else, leading to his fateful decision to take his own life.

Detailing his final wishes, he expressed a desire to be laid to rest on Valentine’s Day, February 14, simply stating, “Just decided to rest in peace. I have tried all means but it has been in vain.”

In a poignant gesture, he left his girlfriend’s contact information, requesting that she deliver his eulogy.

Concerned about potential offspring from past relationships, the deceased entrusted his relatives with the task of locating any children he may have had to ensure they were included as beneficiaries of his estate.

Assigning the responsibility of funeral arrangements to two members of the county assembly, he provided specific instructions, emphasizing the importance of incorporating a photograph he had left behind into the ceremony.

Expressing his struggle with depression, he lamented the lack of support he received despite reaching out to 17 individuals regarding his troubled relationship. “I have pleaded with (the ex-girlfriend) but all has fallen on deaf ears,” he revealed.

The tragic incident was confirmed by a journalist who visited the teacher’s residence where the suicide occurred.

In light of this distressing event, counselors, medical professionals, and psychologists underscored the importance of seeking assistance when facing mental health challenges. Individuals in distress are encouraged to reach out for support through the toll-free hotline provided by the Kenya Red Cross at 1199.
