Man Strips Naked, Jumps Out of Police Vehicle

Man strips naked, jumps out of police vehicle. In a bizarre incident at a Magistrate Court in Isoka, Northeastern Zambia, a Kenyan man caused a stir by stripping and attempting to flee after being presented in court.

The man had been arrested for failing to report to immigration offices, where he was expected to address queries regarding his presence in Zambia. Zambian Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga disclosed that the individual was a remandee transported from the Isoka Correctional Facility.

Upon arrival at the court, the unexpected unfolded as the remandee suddenly undressed and sprinted away, prompting a pursuit by police officers.

Despite sustaining two deep cuts on his right leg during the chase, the man was swiftly recaptured. He received medical attention at a local hospital before being transferred to Isoka Police Station for further detention until his next court appearance.

Zambian immigration guidelines specify that Kenyans traveling to Zambia must possess a valid passport, and depending on the purpose of their visit, they may need to apply for permits.

While a visa isn’t mandatory for those with a valid passport, there are limitations on the duration of stay. The Immigration and Deportation Act 1965 empowers immigration officers to arrest, detain, and deport individuals without a valid permit, especially if they pose a threat to Zambia’s citizens.

Deportation may also be enforced for non-compliance with temporary permit guidelines. Individuals issued with a notice to leave Zambia are provided with information on the designated route and the timeline within which they must depart before government action is taken.

This incident adds to the spectrum of news in Kenya and Zambia, where recent headlines include changes in the education sector, arrests linked to impersonation, announcements by the Red Cross, and insights into political dynamics, such as President William Ruto addressing challenges in office.
