MP Speaks of Impeaching Wetangula

Western region based Member of Parliament, Hon Dan Wanyama has now threatened to present a motion in Parliament to impeach the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

The MP alleges that Mr. Wetangula is wielding the extensive influence of his Ford-Kenya party to obstruct and intimidate MCAs aligned with President William Ruto’s UDA party.

The MP contends that Ford Kenya has already set in motion plans to oust UDA-affiliated MCAs from their current positions on influential committees.

Expressing concerns, the MP stated, “The UDA leadership has received reports that Ford Kenya has planned to remove UDA MCAs at Bungoma county assembly whenever they would be seen attending to UDA meetings.”

The MP further asserted, “We have all the information that UDA MCAs in Bungoma county assembly have been threatened to be removed from the house committees if they are spotted in UDA forums.”

In the MP’s view, Wetangula must now acknowledge collaboration with Ruto’s party or confront the prospect of impeachment. This accusation underscores the heightened tensions between political factions, emphasizing the alleged use of party machinery to manipulate the composition of key committees.

The MP’s call for alignment or potential consequences reflects the charged atmosphere within Bungoma county’s political landscape, where affiliations and loyalties are becoming increasingly contentious.

The outcome of this political standoff will likely shape the future dynamics within the local assembly and influence the relationships between different parties in the broader political context.
